How to Care For Teak Garden furniture

Teak wood furniture is rising in popularity these days due to the fact that it boasts of the natural beauty of wood. Teak is actually naturally resistant to outdoor elements, rot, and insects because it has natural oils so it could survive in the forest where it grows. Teak is very durable compared to the other kinds of wooden furniture and they are weather resistant hardwood.

Teak wood patio furniture makes an excellent choice for outdoor furniture. To maintain it, you can lightly sand your teak wood furniture with fine grain sandpaper then reapply teak oil on every surface to properly care for it. The oil makes this wood stablizes when exposed to the extreme heat of the sun, rain, or snow. Do not be anxious if you see it turning gray because it is normal. And when it does, just follow these easy steps:

Rinse With Soap and Water
Wash the wood with the mildest soap and water. This will help remove surface dirt and some of the oxidation on the surface of the wood. Many people resort to doing this because this is the easiest and often most effective way to clean your teak garden furniture. And then you can let them dry overnight after rinsing them with water and soap.

Use a Sandpaper
right after rinsing with water and soap, the next thing you should do is to sand the wood with a fine-grain sandpaper. With the help of sanding it, it will expose the true color of the wood that is usually hidden by oxidation and dirt. Sand it lightly and make sure that you follow the direction of the grain while you are sanding the wood. It is important that you know not to sand against the grain.

Wipe Away Dust Particles with a Clean Cloth
Use a clean, dry cotton cloth to wipe away all the dust particles from the wood. Before applying any finish to it, it is important that the wood is clean and dry.

Apply Teak Wood Oil
You can then put teak wood oil on the wood after wiping the furniture set with cloth. It is recommended that you use brush to apply the teak oil evenly. Based on the color of the wood after each coat, decide how many coats you want to do. Set it aside in a secure place once you are done with it.

While most people leave their teak garden furniture outside all year round, it is still advisable to bring them indoors during extreme weather conditions. Your outdoor teak furniture will last a long time, especially with the right maintenance. Also, it is recommended to contact a furniture assembly professional to take care of all your outdoor furniture assembly needs. Ask for a quote now!
